Community Engagement Officer at The Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC)

Job Purpose:
• The Community and Engagement Officer will be expected to provide technical support to the USAID LPHS Kigezi supported health facilities in the allocated cluster/district on Community interventions across the Prevention, Adults & Pediatric Care & Treatment, PMTCT/EID and TB priorities.

Specific duties and responsibilities;
Planning and implementation of community interventions to improve the quality of community HIV/TB services.
Support generation of integrated community service delivery work plans for supported sites/district.
Support accurate and timely community interventions data collection, review and reporting in the respective HMIS tools.
Support planning and implementation of TB contact tracing and community TB screening at the supported DTUs
Support client access to preferential DSDM approaches & all services provision at facility and community.
Support implementation with fidelity and to scale high impact HIV case finding interventions.
Work with the Community Health Workers (Community & Facility based Peers, CLFs, YAPs, KP peers) to ensure functionality of the PSS groups, client attachment & contacting support.
Collaborate with the OVC partner in implementation of community interventions addressing 95- 95-95 gaps impacting on access to all services for CALHIV & all PLHIV.
Support implementation and integration of Gender and GBV in health service delivery at targeted health facilities and provide support for activities that address SGBV.
Ensure implementation of an effective referral system at facility and community level for survivors’ access to timely quality case management services.
Mentor and coach community Health workers/Actors on provision of client literacy for HIV /TB services
Reporting: weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on the community activities
Documentation of promising practices & success stories in provision of HIV/TB community services
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Person Specifications:
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Community Development or Community Health or Nursing.
• Possession of a post graduate in Public Health, Sociology or Community Health would be an added advantage
• At least three years’ experience in PEPFAR HIV/TB projects community work with experience gained through serving within a government institution or NGO with proven ability to coordinate activities of different stakeholders at district and or sub national level.
• Three years’ experience training community health workers and/or CBOs in MNCH, FP, HIV and TB interventions
• Skills in at least two or more of the following technical areas: Strengthening service delivery programs, supporting referrals and linkages between and among communities and health facilities; performance and quality improvement, psychosocial support, and integrating health service delivery into community structures.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity in national programs and technical staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication or interpersonal skills is a must.
