Responsible for strategic direction and high-level oversight of research projects and collaborations at Baylor-Uganda, the responsible and ethical conduct of research, publication, dissemination, and translation of research to policy.
Overall Responsibilities
· Develop/revise research policy documents
- Oversee all aspects of the research and evaluation studies, from idea conception, protocol development, implementation, data analysis, report writing, and dissemination at district, national and international level.
- Establish performance targets, monitor progress and appraise research team.
- Develop staffing plans to appropriately align resources to workloads.
- Assist and advise on the preparation and management of budgets for studies and projects.
- Ensure the highest quality scientific, ethical and regulatory standards for all research activities.
- Lead and/or participate in initiatives to improve overall organizational effectiveness in research conduct, including working with quality and compliance teams.
- Lead capacity building of Baylor-Uganda staff, fellows, students and partners in the conduct of research through research trainings, mentoring, and sharing/review of relevant scientific literature.
- Build capacity of Baylor-Uganda staff in research grant proposal writing.
- Work with directorates of strategic development, and Medical programs to identify and evaluate interventions to address key programmatic challenges using strong scientific methodology to the broader HIV/AIDS/TB and Global Health security Programs.
- Support systematic documentation and dissemination of best practices across Baylor-Uganda programs.
- Support the Executive Director to identify and develop new local and international research networks, as well as strengthen current partnerships.
Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
- · Medical Doctor with a Master’s degree in medicine, Epidemiology or Public Health,
- · PhD is an added advantage
- 10 Years Relevant Experience
