The Program Officer will conceptualize, plan and implement the UCS’s programs. In collaboration with the Executive Director, s/he assumes the responsibility for UCS representation, donor liaison, communications with stakeholders, facilitating the work of UCS through partner organizations and UCS program development.
JOB DETAILS
Location: Kampala
Type of Employment: Contract renewable based on availability of funds
Reports to: Executive Director (ED)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
1. Identify and build relationships with Government, Civil Society and other relevant stakeholders that are critical to Cancer Control
2. Represent the organization at relevant networks, workshops, seminars and policy events
3. Develop ideas and projects for formal collaboration with relevant stakeholders
4. Identify and track emerging opportunities through the UCS Resource Mobilization strategy and Strategic Plan
5. Coordinate lesson learning from monitoring and evaluation of the Organization’s programme Portfolio and support sharing of best practice.
6. Coordinate overall programme portfolio to ensure key performance indicators are met and programme impact is in line with Strategic Plan
7. Maintaining a strong brand for the UCS, including impactful and fit for- publications purpose, web site and social media information.
8. Coordinating media and public affairs activities to promote the legal and policy positions of UCS
9. Managing the publication and promotion of UCS materials, including design and printing
10. Ensuring that the UCS communication outputs are of a high standard, respond to the needs of the target audience, and are delivered within agreed budget and timelines.
11. Managing relations with UCS Members.
12. Monitoring and Evaluation of UCS Programs.
13. Lead the implementation of UCS Advocacy Strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BSc degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Development studies or other relevant disciplines
EXPERIENCE
1. 2-3 years’ experience in Program development and implementation
2. Experience in project management with a proven track record of delivering on objectives
3. A strong background in monitoring and evaluation
4. Experience of developing and implementing media and advocacy campaigns
5. Knowledge and understanding of human rights, in particular vulnerable persons
6. Knowledge of the environment in which non-governmental organizations operate
COMPETENCIES
1. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
2. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
3. Ability to work calmly under pressure and within a small dynamic team
4. Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
5. Ability to manage a complex workload and meet tight deadlines
6. Standard office ICT skills, including social media management
