Research Officer at Tamani Africa

Duty Station: Kampala
Remuneration: T4 according to Tamani Scale Contract

Reports to: Director of Operations

Role:
Work with manager to implement research ideologies intended to improve the conservation industry, advocate for adoption of the ideologies to industry actors and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these ideologies for improvement.

Duties
1. Design, implementation strategies for new research initiates, plan thoroughly for allocation of fiscal resources, Human resources and equipment for a particularly research project
2. Manage foreign research projects through logical support for partners including accommodations, research equipment, legalizations etc.
Play an effective supervisory role to research assistant including appraisal training and welfare
4. Create a data bank for previous research projects for referral partners, staff, stakeholders and partners
5. Assist the research and consulting manager to create effective business model for dissemination of the company’s research findings.
6. Manage internship and volunteer programs intended for research, supervise appraise, train and recommend all volunteer volunteers and interns attach in research
Push for standardization of all research programs, projects and activities to fit local, regional and international protocols
8. Conduct press releases on ground breaking projects in consultation with the manager research consultation
9. Identity up to date and technologically advanced research equipment and make recommendations to management for procurement.
10. Ensure all research equipment and technologies are in healthy working form and ready to undertake any research projects

Qualifications
1. Minimum of BSc. Zoology, Botany, biology
2. Minimum of 3 years of working experience
3. Ability to source, extract and analyses both quantitative and qualitative tourism and other data.
4. Well-developed computer skills in a variety of programs including word processing, database packages.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills, in order to liaise with clients at senior levels
