Team Leader – Access to Adult Education Project at Finnish Refugee Council

Finnish Refugee Council (FRC) is an INGO promoting adult education and community development among refugees since 1997 as an operational partner to UNHCR and OPM. FRC is here by seeking suitably qualified and hardworking Ugandans to fill the following positions.

Job purpose:
Adult Education Team Leader provides technical support on adult education and learning techniques, approaches and methodologies as well as on learner support for quality implementation of courses on literacy, English language, business skill, financial literacy and alike for refugees and host community. She/he has 6 to 8 Adult Education Officers to supervise.

Key tasks:
• Mentor and develop skills of field staff in regard of techniques, approaches, methodologies for adult learning and teaching.
• Provide technical knowhow and expertise on remedial education, transfer of literacy skills and developmental literacy as pre-requisite for other adult education.
• Provide knowhow in use and design of training materials and tools for adult learning mostly in refugee context and in rural environment.
• Explore techniques and approaches for adult learner support such as digital learning.
• Provide support and lead on planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of adult education activities.
Other tasks:
• Conduct regular field visits to review and report on project progress and impact.
• Support and include environment and resilience approaches, community & beneficiary involvement and gender, disability and HIV issues into adult education courses.
• Support active monitoring and evaluation amongst field staff, ensure M&E mechanisms are used appropriately, collect and analyse the data gathered.
• Write and provide high-quality internal and external reports.
• Review and contribute into development of training materials, curricula and topics.

Qualification and Competencies
• Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education with strong experience in training material design / development.
• At least 3-year experience at team leader level.
• Willingness to travel and live in rural project locations.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and achieve results.
• Ability to use standard computing packages and basic M&E data tools.
