Doctors with Africa CUAMM has received a 2 year grant from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation to complement Malaria response in the districts of Oyam and Kole. This funding is part (5%) of the Italian Government contribution to Global Fund Geneva and is meant to allow Italian NGOs to complement Global Fund funded activities in the recipient countries. The project is named ERASE – Rise Against Malaria project – Support for Malaria Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The specific objective is: To increase access to Malaria prevention and quality curative services by the community, especially women and children, in Oyam and Kole districts. The project will be implemented in collaboration with the district local governments of the 2 districts, the University of Bari in Italy and African Network for Change, Uganda.

Function:
• The Malaria Project Officer will support the implementation of activities within the targeted districts including promoting malaria case management at the community level (ICCM), improving community awareness for malaria vector control, improving the quality of care for integrated malaria prevention and case management, strengthening community systems for malaria prevention and case management, and improving the routine reporting and use of Health Management Information System (HMIS) for malaria disease surveillance and outbreak detection.
• The officer will provide leadership and facilitate implementation of the grant activities at the respective district ensuring that all activities are done according to plan.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in Public Health, Nursing, Diploma in Nursing with commendable experience, Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health, or degree in Social Work.
• Demonstrated technical competence and experience in malaria programming, community engagement particularly working with VHTS, working with district health authorities, local communities and community based organizations.
• Ability to speak the local language and knowledge of the local geography and health challenges. Should also have ability to organize health information, write clear reports, train and communicate effectively.
