Standards Officer at Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives responsible for Standardization, Quality Assurance, Metrology (Measurement), and Laboratory Testing (SQMT) with the objectives of facilitating fair trade, promoting local industries and protecting consumers.
UNBS seeks highly motivated, result-oriented and suitably qualified professionals with very high integrity for employment on four-year renewable contract in the under listed position/role;

Job title: Standards Officer
The Standards Officer(s) will mainly provide standardization activities to UNBS stakeholders and the successful candidate(s) shall be required to perform the following duties;
• Develop, implement and enforce National Standards as guided by UNBS Act, regulations and procedures
• Offer technical and scientific input in the planning and operations of UNBS standardization programmes
• Conduct stakeholder analysis and incorporate requirements in the work programmes in consultation with the supervisors
• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports
• Conduct any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors or management.
• Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The applicants should preferably hold an Honours Degree in Chemistry,
• Biology, Food science, Food Technology, Engineering or any other science related qualifications from recognized University/Institutions
• The applicants must be computer literate with skills in MS Word, Excel,
• PowerPoint, and Internet applications.
• At least two years’ post-graduation experience
• The successful candidates need to be team players, excellent communicators with good oral communication and presentation skills.
• Age: Not more than 30 years
