Senior Accountant-Payment at Joint Clinical Research Centre

Reports to: Chief Accountant
Site: JCRC Lubowa site.

Job Purpose;
The senior accountant-payments is responsible for all cash and credit payments within the organization mainly, reviewing all payments, accountabilities and processing them into the system.

Specific duties and responsibilities;
• Coordinate and head the Payment section of JCRC.
• Develop a mechanism for supplier payments, supplier invoicing, coding, and posting into the accounting system.
• Facilitate suppliers account reconciliation on a monthly basis and send out statements reflecting actual stands
• Review all payments for conformity to JCRC procurement and finance guidelines before they are approved for payment
• Oversee the preparation and submission of all statutory deductions especially WHT, PAYE, NSSF, and LST., and be a custodian of these receipts and payments.
• Oversee all prepayments and petty cash payment and reconciliations monthly
• Produce all necessary expenditure reports for management consumption on a weekly basis.
• Track the budget expenditure on a regular basis.
• Constantly review and update all the terms of payments between JCRC and its list of preferred suppliers.
• Advise the department on areas of further improvement in regards to payment and other areas
• Assist in monthly bank reconciliations for JCRC accounts
• Participate and sometimes take lead in both internal and external audit processes.
• Any other duties as may be assigned to you from time to time.

Qualifications and skills required;
• A degree in Accounting or Business related with a bias in accounts.
• Completed at least level two of professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or CIMA or An advanced degree in accounting and finance.
• Minimum of 3 years progressive and professional accounting experience in Donor funded projects.
• Knowledge of accounting software packages. Specific Knowledge of Navision Dynamics is an added.
• Should have good interpersonal and communication skills and a team player.
