Senior Accountant at Nakasero Hospital

Nakasero Hospital is a private hospital in Uganda that has been in operation since 2009. Our Mission is to provide quality, sustainable, compassionate health care by leveraging local and international talent and state-of-the-art technology.
As such we are looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Senior Accountant.
Job Purpose: To develop, implement and maintain policies and practices for the financial management, budget control, and payroll and accounting functions, maintain the financial and accounting services of the Company with key responsibility to oversee tracking of the Company’s financial resources, preparation of financial statements and supervision of the Accounts team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Managing a company’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems.
• Preparation and monitoring company annual budget and reporting.
• Preparation of management reports including balance sheet, P&L and cash flows with variance explanations, store income statements etc. to specific deadlines.
• Accurate periodic financial management reporting including scenario modeling and analytics of the financial performance to shareholders, senior management and other colleagues.
• Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
• Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
• Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.
• Ensuring that tight financial controls and processes are developed, implemented and maintained in the Company.
• Oversee Accounts Payable.
• Work closely with external statutory and regulatory bodies eg. URA, NSSF, Banks and auditors

Knowledge/Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor in Commerce/Accounting/Finance.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience of which two (2) must be at senior level in a financial role in a large organization.
• Qualified ACCA or CPA
• MBA is an added advantage.
• Computer literacy in MS-office package especially MS-word, MS-excel
