Audit Senior Associate at BDO Uganda

BDO in Uganda is looking for passionate and dynamic candidates to join the team as Audit Senior Associates in the Audit & Assurance Services department.
Successful candidates will be expected to provide assurance on the accounts and audit related issues and to supervise, plan and execute assignments (whether audit or special) with the expected result being finishing the audit efficiently and in compliance with the relevant rules and regulations.

Responsibilities
• Prepare reports, documentation and correspondence under superior’s supervision.
• Keep up-to-date with latest accounting, auditing and tax developments.
• Consult with superior on issues identified and research where applicable.
• Identify statutory and regulatory changes that will affect own clients.
• Review management letter points prepared by junior staff and finalize such letters with minimum supervision.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of the Firm’s audit, accounting and tax approach and assist junior staff in understanding the theory behind the approach.
• Assist the Managers as part of a team to service clients.
• Ensure client files have all relevant documentation on the appropriate section.
• Carry out ad hoc requirements as may be reasonably required by the line Manager.
• Take responsibility for all client matters as directed by the Manager.
• Actively adhere to budget and time pressures, timely bringing matters to the attention of the Manager.
• Preparation of engagement letters and client acceptance documentation.

• Demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
• Be well organized and have the ability to prioritize your own workload
• Have a high level of general commercial awareness

Educational and professional qualifications
• Educated to degree level or its equivalent.
• Attainment of a professional accounting qualification – ACCA or CPA (completed exams).
• Experience of acting as audit-in-charge for at least 2 years in an audit firm.
