Social Workers x5 at Reach Out Mbuya Community Health Initiative

Reach Out Mbuya Community Health Initiative (ROM) is a Faith and Community-based organization providing holistic care to extremely vulnerable people living with HIV/AIDS. ROM holistically focuses on the body, mind, family and community wellbeing.

In partnership with World Education Initiative/Bantwana, we are implementing the USAID Integrated Child and Youth Development Activity (ICYD) in Kampala District. The Activity aims to ensure Uganda’s children and youth, especially girls and the most vulnerable, are well prepared to lead resilient, healthy, and productive lives. The activity will support interventions that lead to three outcomes:
1. Children have improved learning outcomes.
2. Children are safe and healthy in their community and learning environments.
3. Youth practice positive behaviours and make informed decisions about their lives and relationships.

We are therefore looking for motivated and competent individuals to join our amazing team and fill the following vacancies.
Job Title: Social Workers (5)
Reports to: Division Coordinator Directly supervises Para Social Workers (PSWs)
Location: Nakawa, Kampala Central, Makindye, Kawempe and Rubaga.

Job summary
The Social Worker will lead the day-to-day implementation of the field OVC activities in liaison with the Division community-based services department (SBSD), health facilities and community structures. He/She will ensure that the ICYD activity intended beneficiaries are identified, assessed and enrolled. He/she will ensure that the intended OVC services in the community are delivered in line with MGLSD and PEPFAR guidelines.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Responsible for overall supervision, Coaching and Mentoring of Para-social Workers (PSWs) for effective OVC household identification/assessment and enrollment into USAID ICYD activity and development of Household Improvement and individual care plans as well as tracking their progress.
• Organize case Conferencing with the Division Community Development Officers, as well as mobilizing, coordinating monthly meetings with Parasocial Workers; producing timely and informative project activity reports.
• Build strong systems to ensure effective referral and linkages for OVCs to community support structures and to health facilities that ROM will be working with.
• Ensure high-quality reporting of OVC activities through set national information management systems and funder databases.
• Promote access and utilization of child protection services among vulnerable children, youths and their household members.
• Train Para social workers (PSWs) in case management and Support all OVC case management activities and beneficiary assessments to track progress 3 towards graduation. Document and report family and child success stories based on program intervention.
• Support PSWs to Conduct monthly home visits to enrolled OVC households and carry out monthly data collection, quality checks and reporting on OVC activities plus ensuring files are well maintained 8. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Division Coordinator and Case Management Officer.
• Periodically do household reassessment to identify households ready for graduation and also to help do household improvement and individual care plans.
• Support and observe the safeguarding culture of ROM, regularly documenting and reporting identified and potential safeguarding issues; Ensuring health, safety, and security in your area of operation, as you promote the vision, mission and the values of Reach Out Mbuya.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The ideal candidates for this position should preferably hold Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work & Social Administration (SWASA), Social sciences, Education, Community Psychology or Public Health or any related qualification.
• A minimum of three years’ work experience in a field position with an organization in public health or OVC programming.
• S/he should have computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrable good communication and community mobilization skills.
