Purpose of the Job:
The job holder will be responsible for the Accounts Payables function and will be under the direct supervision of the Financial Accountant.
Qualifications and experience:
The applicable candidate must have the following qualifications, experience and skills:
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant degree
• Additional certification ACCA, CPA
• At least five years’ work experience as an Accountant
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures
• Proficient in General Ledger functions
• Advanced MS Excel skills, proficiency in SAP accounting software
• Knowledge, skills and ability to perform the required tasks
• Attention to detail and good analytical skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
• A mature and practicing Christian who upholds the University’s Core values and Instruments of Identity
Key Competencies & Responsibilities:
• Ensuring Budget Consumptions for departments are captured.
• Initiate payments and post entries
• Prepare accounts
• Keep account books and systems up to date
• Monitor spending and budgets
• Compile and prepare financial and budget reports
• Conduct balance sheet and bank accounts’ reconciliation
• Analyze financial performance
• Manage financial information
• Advise and help clients and staff on financial matters
• Any other official duties as may be assigned by assigned by the supervisor
