Truck Mechanic/Auto Electrician at Trans East Ugand

JOB TITLE: Truck Mechanic/Auto electrician
REPORTS TO: Workshop Foreman
PRIMARY DUTY STATION: Trans East Uganda Yard
JOB GRADE: Non -Management

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Carry out routine maintenance works as assigned on the job cards, including repairing heavy duty trucks and related equipment as well as implement ISO 9001:2015 standards .

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction.
• Diagnose and repair/replace various parts/components that have failed or are causing malfunctions on the equipment, such as transmission, engines, drive lines rear axles, gear boxes and hydraulic components.
• Diagnose and repair problems related to the hydraulic components of equipment.
• Diagnose and repair problems on the steering systems of equipment.
• Diagnose and repair problems on the brake system of equipment.
• Service equipment: i.e. grease trucks and related equipment, change oils/fluids.
• Undertake repairs on a wide variety of vehicles and plant to achieve peak performances.
• Requisition parts and equipment as necessary through the set company standards.
• Liaise with supervisors on problems to achieve an efficient repair.
• Keep site or work area clean and tidy after use.
• Identify repairs required through unfair wear and tear and advice the workshop Foreman and line supervisor.
• Carry out work within a realistic time frame as set by the company.
• Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
• Carryout electromechanical maintenance and safety inspection on trucks by testing on batteries and charging systems to ensure that electrical components are receiving the correct voltage.
• Diagnose and replace and or repair the lighting system.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned to them from time to time by the management.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Have a certificate in Grade 3 Motor Vehicle Mechanics and electrical works
• Have at least 3 years’ experience in repair and electrical works on Heavy Commercial trucks specifically Beiben trucks.
• Have no criminal record. Possess a police certificate of good conduct.
• Experience as a foreman would be an advantage.
